A Lolita's Bookshelf >> The Classic Lolita

The Classic Lolita's Bookshelf
Building your wardrobe to match your alternative fashion lifestyle may often seem like a daunting task, from acquiring the perfect blend of dresses, skirts, and accessories that fit your personality, to picking out the perfect wigs, there are so many ways you could get lost in the sea of frills that it often becomes a frustrating affair (not unlike an illicit affair!). Thankfully, the modern maiden is blessed with a large social network to receive input and feedback to satiate her desire to perfect her opulent lifestyle. I present to you today, fair reader, a new series for Gothic Lolita's, Modern Gentlewomen, and enthusiasts featuring book recommendations so that you may fill both your shelves and your Victorian hearts.

Cover Me Fashionable >> Alice In Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles #1)

Alice In Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles #1) by Gena Showalter
Cover Me Fashionable is a weekly meme hosted by The Lost Lola, which features clothing finds by readers which match the outfits worn on the covers of their favorite books. This week's fashionable cover find is this stunning lolita dress, available from Qutieland for $174, which I am absolutely dying to get my hands on! I think this dress is an almost identical match to the one on the Alice In Zombieland cover, wouldn't you say? From the beautiful silky fitted bodice with very fairy tale looking sleeves, to the amazingly full chiffon skirt, I am, quite simply, in love with this dress. Imagine slipping on this number and finding your own path to Wonderland!

Literary Events >> Fancy Nancy Tea Adventure

This Sunday, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a tea hosted by Adventures By The Book at the beautiful Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego, CA with Christine de la Creme. Our Fancy Nancy Tea Adventure included a meet-and-greet with the illustrator of the Fancy Nancy book series, Robin Preiss Glasser, who may just about be the most fabulous person you will ever meet! Of course we opted to dress in fanciful lolita wear to celebrate the release of the book, Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet.

Novel Fashion >> Get the "Hannah Ward" Look

"We rehearse in old leotards, threadbare tights, and torn leg warmers. We rarely buy new dance clothes because we know that most ballet careers are short-lived." Bunheads

Fashionable Inspirations >> Snow White

Snow White and the Huntsman
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?

Snow White and the Huntsman by Lily Blake
This year seems to be the year of the raven-haired, apple-eating beauty known as Snow White, and her equally infamous jealous stepmother, the evil queen. With the release of Mirror Mirror starring Julia Roberts in March, and the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Twilight's own Bella, Kirsten Stewart, and Thor himself (out in theaters this June), it's no surprise that fashion designers are taking their cues from fairy tales to create their own whimsical creations for 2012.
